BCB Agency Involvements

BBBS Bowl for Kids Sake – four years – Started out the first year with one team and have grown into hosting two teams the last two years.  We finished in top 10 overall team and overall individual contributors the last two years. One of our staff members is now serving as the honorary co-chair, along with Rick Greenspan, for the 20th anniversary (2008) Bowl for Kids Sake, which has a lofty goal of raising $200,000.

Habitat for Humanity Habitat Build – Participated in our fourth year this summer – Agents and staff participate in either ½ or one full day of donating time and efforts to an actual building site.  Assignments have included everything from painting, cleaning windows, siding, installing insulation; and roofing.

MCUM Food Drive – three years at Christmas (and have committed for our fourth year this year).  Each Christmas we have a food drive and then a day to celebrate. Each staff member/agent who would like to participate in the pizza party must bring at least $5 of canned goods or donate $5. Everyone who participates can come to the office pizza party.

Salvation Army bell ringing – staff donates an afternoon to ring the bell for the Salvation Army.  Last Christmas was our third year.

Blood Drive – Hosted three years – participated (with Sherwood Oaks) the past two years.

All About Me – For approximately ten years, we have financially sponsored the All About Me books that are personalized books given to kindergarten students.  It is a bi-annual event.  When the books are distributed to the students, agent volunteers participate in the schools by offering to read to the students.

Hoosiers Outrun Cancer – team participants – two years – Individual participants – 6 years including next weekend.

Teachers Warehouse – we were actually used as a role model for other businesses regarding the way we gathered donations from office staff/agents.  Have participated 2 years – in the summer---to gather school supplies for students who many not be able to purchase them. Also allows teachers to not have to use their own resources.

Unsung Hero—For 26 weeks BCB received nominations for people who work behind the scenes to make a difference in the community in which we live.  Recipients were awarded with a certificate and a monetary contribution was given to the charity of their choice.  We have just begun our Unsung Hero campaign for 2007.
